There are a couple of possibilities. The quickest way – assuming it works – is to enable Number Lock while you’ re still on the Windows 10 login screen, and then shut down your PC before logging in.
If Number Lock still won’ t stay on you’ ll need to carry out a quick tweak in the Windows Registry. It’s quite simple but it’s always sensible to back up before delving into the Registry, so do that first.
Next, press Win+R, then type regedit and press Enter. Use the left-hand pane to navigate to the following key: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard. Th en, in the right-hand pane, right-click ‘Initial Keyboard Indicators’ and choose Modify (see screenshot). The figure in the ‘Value data’ box should be ‘21474 83648’. Change this to ‘21474 83650’ and click OK.
If the Initial Keyboard Indicators entry doesn’t exist, right-click a blank art of the right-hand pane and choose New followed by String Value. Type Initial Keyboard Indicators as the new string value’s name and press Enter, then follow the steps above to set its value to ‘21474 83650’. Close the Registry Editor, then restart your PC.
Carry out this Registry tweak to ensure your PC’s Number Lock is on by default |
